4 Effective ways to increase traffic volume

It’s not difficult to drive traffic to your site, once you know how to. Below are 4 simple ways that can help you achieve that:

1. Post topics that are interesting. Be creative, and make sure you brand what your writing about. Add your own personal spin to it. Make your post simple, conversational and short. Try to make it strait to the point without rushing things. You should also regularly update the blog so that more visitors will check your blog every now and then.

3. Make sure to take full advantage FeedBurner and provide a FULL RSS FEED. This really simple syndication will allow others to subscribe and syndicate your blog. This can also make it easier for other sites or blogs to link you, as well as providing yourself some authority and credibility as well.

3. Although some people may disagree with this, I personally find it effective. I from time to time try to add links to other websites in my post as it will greatly increase the change of search engines indexing me. So don’t be afraid to put links in your website from time to time.

4. Always, always, always reply to your comments. I personally like to reply on my both my website, and theres. This way you show your readers that you really care about there contributions. Not only do you build friendships this way, you are in turn earning yourself backlinks as well.

Improve your Alexa Ranking

On my quest for higher rankings, I found this great article by Michael Fleischner / Marketing Expert / Internet Marketing Secrets.

It's 7 Proven Strategies for Improving your Alexa Ranking:

Here’s what you need to know. The basis for many of these techniques is the fact that your Alexa ranking is based reach and page views. However it only counts those who visit your site and have already downloaded the Alexa toolbar. Anyone can download the toolbar for free which is automatically added to your browser and tracks the sites you’re visiting. Increasing visits from those who do not have the Alexa toolbar installed will not help your Alexa ranking.

I’ve summarized the 7 strategies that I’ve discovered and applied to my own website to increase my Alexa ranking. Apply these strategies to your own website and see your ranking climb towards the top.

1. Download the Alexa toolbar and use it every day to visit your own website. Alexa even gives you the ability to co-brand the toolbar with your own logo and give it away. Download the Alexa Toolbar

2. Use Alexa redirection whenever you can. No matter when or where you provide a link to your website, be sure to use the equivalent Alexa redirect URL. For example, when providing a link to my website, I use http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?marketingscoop.com. If you copy this URL into your browser, it will take you to MarketingScoop.com. To use this technique, simply replace the name of my website (marketingscoop) with yours.
3. Encourage your website visitors to add their positive testimonials on Alexa’s detailed listings page for your website. This can be done by placing a link to the appropriate Alexa page on your website and asking visitors to “Click here to rate this website”. You can find your detailed Alexa page here: http://www.alexa.com/data/details/?url=marketingscoop.com. Again, just replace the name of my website (marketingscoop) with yours. By clicking on the URL, visitors will be able to reach your detailed rating page and write a review using the review link located on the left hand side of the page.

4. Write your own site reviews on the top 100 rated Alexa sites and include your redirect URL. The top 500 domains, according to Alexa can be found at Alexa Top 500. When you write a review, be sure to use the redirection URL we discussed in number 2 above specifically for your website [http://redirect.alexa.com/redirect?marketingscoop.com].

5. Download the Alexa ranking button, traffic history graph, info links, and other traffic counters onto the page of your website that receives the most traffic. For example, at the bottom of my home page http://www.marketingscoop.com, I’ve added the Alexa ranking box. You can do the same for your own site by visiting Site Stats Signup. You’ll notice that I haven’t added the traffic history graph. This is because it wouldn’t look appropriate on my home page and because Alexa is only providing detailed history on the top 100,000 sites. So if you’re not in the top 100,000, site stats would not be available.

6. Take an inexpensive advertisement out on the ExactSeek search directory for only a few dollars per month at ExactSeek.com Search engine results are directly correlated with Alexa rankings. You’ll notice that if a website is highly ranked on ExactSeek, chances are that it will be highly ranked on Alexa.

7. Get listed on as many search engines as possible by placing a free listing in DMOZ. This is the largest human edited directory on the web and is co-branded among hundreds of thousands of sites. Be patient though, it often takes up to 5 months before you see your website listed after submission. Even though it takes longer than it should, you have little say in the matter because it’s so widely used across the Internet.

These simple Alexa strategies are easy to implement and will make a huge difference in your Alexa ranking. Ultimately you want visitors to do more than visit your home page, you want them to interact with your site. Be sure to optimize your home page for SEO purposes, ease of use, and interaction. Creating a positive user experience will get visitors to return again and again.

Succeeding with Pay Per Click

This list details some very important points to keep in mind when creating or managing any pay-per-click campaign. Is this all there is to know about pay-per-click advertising? Absolutely not, but for those new to PPC it should serve as good place to start. Additionally, pay-per-click veterans or at least the moderately-seasoned will want to touch upon these points now and then to brush up on their fundamentals.

1) Do your keyword homework.

Use Google's free Keyword Tool or sign up for a WordTracker account to find out which keywords are the most competitive. The more competitive the keyword, the more expensive your clicks will be. While you're finding out which keywords are too expensive you'll come across some that aren't being targeted heavily by advertisers. Take a good look at these - they may be your keys to a successful niche campaign.

2) Don't bunch your ad groups.

You should be striving to separate your ad groups by keyword. Whatever your target, separate your keyword lists into closely related groups containing the same target words and write ads geared specifically to those words. Your ads will show up higher in results based on their quality, and search terms show up bold in results - a click-through rate booster.

3) Drive home your selling point.

What's your offer? Why are you better than the others? Remember that your ads are going to display with your competitors. The difference between a user clicking your ad and clicking a competitor ad is about 100 pixels on the screen - or a millisecond of time. You need to convince them that you are the one they want. You are better. Grab them.

6) Don't lie in your ads.

People aren't dumb. If you promise something in your ads you had better well deliver. Otherwise you'll not only waste advertising dollars but damage your brand. Be honest, and focus on points that make you stand out from the competition. Grandiose ad text might bring in clicks, but if it isn't the truth it won't bring in conversions.

7) Your domain name counts.

In most cases you can display a domain name that you own as the "display domain" but point the ads to a page on a different domain. Why does this matter? If you own a domain name that contains the keyword text it will show up bold and increase conversions. Enter the optimized domain as the displayed domain, point the ads to your landing pages and you can expect higher CTRs in most cases.

8) Utilize negative keywords.

Google has a new Negative Keyword Tool that will allow you to find negative keywords that you should specify for your ads. Negative keywords are those that you don't want your ads to display for. For example, if you're selling "blue widgets" you don't want to display your ads to those users searching for "free blue widgets." If you don't use negative keywords you are missing out on a chance to get more targeted traffic to your landing pages, and this can really hurt your conversion rates.

9) Test, test, and test some more.

The greatest thing about internet advertising is the ability it grants you to measure your success. It's easy to create A/B split tests with Pay-Per-Click advertising. Change one word, add a comma, include a value proposition. . .just make sure you only change one thing for each split or you won't know which variable it was that made the difference! You'll find out right away that this is a great way to optimize your click-through rates - just don't forget that clicks aren't everything!

10) Don't focus too heavily on CTRs.

Getting tons of clicks isn't always the name of the game. In fact, if you aren't using proper techniques to ensure that you're getting targeted traffic and sending it to well-optimized landing pages you can blow through your advertising budget in no time flat. Remember that the success of any advertisement is getting back more than you put in. It's an investment, not a cost - so do all that you can to better your rate of return!

My Savvy Review of Online Opportunity

My first thoughts of this website are bland appearance, organized, and informative.

I found the layout of Jay's website to be extremely user friendly but would like to see a splash of color;) Everything is categorized accordingly and include fresh ideas and advice of today's online money making market.

Jay the owner/author of Online Opportunity provides detailed resources how to make money online. His articles are jam packed with information that will help you make the most of your online money ventures.

2 things set Jay apart from other money making websites.

1. He will take a risk so you don't have to.

Let me elaborate. Have you ever wanted to know if an opportunity is legit or is worth investing in? Jay takes the risk by trying out the service, regardless if payment is required, and then informs you on whether it's a legitimate opportunity or a scam. Whichever one it is, he gives you the pros and cons so you can make your own decision. He is prompt in responding to your questions and concerns which leads me to the number 2 reason I set him apart from other money making websites.

2. You can tell that he genuinely cares about his readers.

Top commentators are displayed, he responds promptly to comments & addresses everyone by their name, and he is willing to lose his own money & waste his time so we don't have to. Class Action Lawsuits Against CJ, Be Free, and ValueClick

Just in case you haven't heard...the president of AffiliateFairPlay.com, has reported that two separate class action lawsuits were filed against Commission Junction, Be Free and ValueClick on April 20, 2007.
One names CJ and Be Free publishers (affiliates) as the plaintiffs. The other names CJ and Be Free merchants as the plaintiffs.

The lawsuits concern the use of adware. According to the president of affiliatefairplay.com, the lawsuits allege breach of contract, negligence and unfair business practices on CJ/BF’s part by allowing adware affiliates to operate within their Network. To sum it up, it seems to be that CJ/BF has knowingly allowed adware affiliates in their Network which commit commission theft and fraudulent transactions through adware applications. The suit is seeking monetary damages to both affiliates and merchants.

Making Money with Google Adsense

One of the common mistakes people have with regards to Adsense is thinking that you simply just apply, slap the code in your website and you can start earning money from it. FALSE!

As you can see, you hardly earn anything from it. Why? Because your site is not the right fit with Adsense. The truth is that not all sites work well with Adsense -- and your astrology site is not the best for the program

The amount you can earn will depend on the following factors (see #1 -- your site does not fit well with it)

1. Responsiveness of audience to the ads = A travel website that provides information on travel to Spain will attract visitors looking for ways to arrange their travel and spend money on their vacation to Spain. Your site provides the info, but the ads will provide hotels, travel agencies, tourist destinations, car rentals -- ads that are likely to get the attention of the users of your site. This is a site that will most likely do well with Adsense. However, if you are a gaming website where the main purpose of the user is to play games on your site, then Adsense will not perform as well.

2. Ad format = some types of ads do better than others depending on your content and layout. In our case, large rectangles in the middle of the content is the best, while leaderboards do not generate as much as income. Skys are the worst for us. Experiment and measure the results via channels and see which formats work best for you.

3. Ad placement - check Google's heat map as they have tested where the best placements are.

4. Ad colors - sometimes ads blended into the content works wonders, but sometimes ads that contrast your site colors work best

5. Number of ad units on a page = we are allowed maximum of 3 ads + 1 ad links + 1 search box on a page. Maximize the allowed number based on the resulting look of your page (you don't want an overkill of ads). Users going to your page and reading your content may ignore the banner or rectangle at the top of the page, but may click on the ad at the bottom of the article

6. Smartpricing - the big unknown in Adsense. No one knows how this actually works. But it can affect the pricing of the ads on your site. If the advertiser paid for $0.50/click - but your site is smartpriced - then the cost may be discounted lower (e.g. $0.25). So you may try to develop a site based on high paying keywords but if smartpricing gets to you, then you may not get as much per click as what you are expecting from your keywords.

Google's smart pricing feature automatically adjusts the cost of a keyword-targeted content click based on its effectiveness compared to a search click. So if our data shows that a click from a content page is less likely to turn into actionable business results -- such as online sales, registrations, phone calls, or newsletter signups -- we reduce the price you pay for that click.

Experiment with the factors above (except smartpricing, which you can't control), and see which combination works best. Remember though that not all sites do well with Adsense - even if you get gazillions of traffic but your visitors are not interested in looking for ways to spend their money, they won't be interested in your ads and won't click.

After 3 solid months of blogging, I have come to realize that I need some sort of organization. Implementing some kind of time management is essential too otherwise I'm on the computer ALL DAY!!!

Staying Organized with a Blog Binder. Whether or not you use the binder, it provides some excellent tips on how to stay organized and be more efficient with your blogging.

I have already started setting up my blog binder so maybe I can spend a little less time on the computer and more time living life!

Agloco Viewbar is Released~~Get Paid to Surf

You've heard of Agloco, you've seen it everywhere, but you don't have it....well, it's time to get it!! They have just released the viewbar and now YOU can get paid to surf using their viewbar.
I have already downloaded mine and am currently using it as we "speak".

If you look at the bottom of the screen, you can see the purple viewbar. You can change the color to your liking. It has a wide rectangle where ads will be displayed then the search box with google being the default. It has a magnifier and a tools icon that features a calculator and a calendar. You can also right click on their Agloco logo and it gives you options.
I have been trying to log on to check my stats but they have had an overload with all the people trying to download the viewbar. If you haven't signed up, you can sign up here.

If you can't get through, keep trying. They have been overloaded but are working on it right now.
