I Think Therefore I Link is a great blogger motto, however, it is for the selfless. Just like in life, you have to "link" in order to receive "links".
Not all links are created equal either. While link farms and viral tags may increase your Technorati rating, they will NOT increase your PR. The best way to get your PR up is by getting links with the "PR big wigs". One link from a PR 5 is far more important than 10 links on a PR 1.
Another big issue is linking on other site with your main page URL. One of the best things you can do, is to link to a past article instead. This gets the reader to a more interesting article, which in returns, gets you a more traffic to the post but, more importantly, to your blog/website.
Want to know when someone else links to your site? Track Engine is a great place to start. I also check out Technorati to see who has linked to me. They update frequently.
In conclusion, be wise about you link to and don't get caught up in all the link farm hype. Link from other sites to your articles and you will get quality traffic.
